Born in Barcelona in 1965, son of Mako Ishikawa and Joan Gardy Artigas, Isao grew up in a bicultural and artistic atmosphere. His grandfather, Llorens Artigas, was an internationally famous ceramist, friend and regular collaborator of artists such as Dufy, Miró, Giacometti, Dalí and Picasso. He studied in Paris and then lived for a long time in Japan to study Japanese calligraphy and retrace his family and cultural roots.

A multidisciplinary artist, in addition to painting he also works in sculpture, ceramics, textiles, furniture, lamps and modern materials such as latex and plastic, which has led to him collaborate with numerous firms, creating new products as well as extending existing lines.

A regular participant in international art fairs of great prestige, as well as exhibitions worldwide, he combines his artistic career with other work in the world of business.
