An illustrator, painter and sculptor born in Barcelona in 1954, he graduated in Information Science. Afterwards Joma extended his studies at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in the same city, since this time orienting his professional career towards graphic humour and illustration, both in the press and in publishing. His work is regularly published in a variety of media, particularly in La Vanguardia and on Canal+.
At the same time as working as an illustrator, he has also had a significant artistic career, exhibiting regularly since 1993 at various organisations and art galleries (Sala Rovira, Galeria Maeght, Proa Espais, Wellesley College in Boston). Over the last few years, in addition to publishing engravings and prints, he has also become interested in creating poems-objects as a corporeal continuation of the world he has gradually constructed through his drawings. Recently his work has leaned towards social issues by producing sculptures and installations. |
